Public Service Announcement About Products Made with Peanut Butter

According to this NPR story, products made with peanut butter may be contaminated with salmonella, as may peanut butter sold in bulk. The peanut butter you buy at the grocery store should be safe, but avoid the cookies with the peanut butter filling.

NPR.org, January 17, 2009 ยท The Food and Drug Administration has extended its warning about possible salmonella contamination of peanut butter.

Products containing peanut butter are now suspect. That's in addition to peanut butter bought in bulk by large institutions such as hospitals and schools.

The warning covers products such as cookies, crackers, ice cream, cereal and candy that contain peanut butter. On Friday, Keebler and Austin voluntarily recalled various types of peanut butter crackers.

The FDA says peanut butter sold in retail stores is not a problem.

An Editor's Take on Deep POV

Today's edittorrent post, Jennifer is right... deep POV and "head words", discusses putting the emphasis on a POV character's realization of a feeling or thought.

As I'm one of those writers who often edits out the "extra" words, I found edittorrent's take on this interesting, since whichever editor wrote today's post doesn't feel it's necessary to avoid the thought process information, agreeing with Jennifer that there is a difference between "[h]e wanted to stay" and "he 'realized' he wanted to stay".

Of course, like any other word or phrase, you don't want to use "s/he realized" too often, either.
