pameladlloyd: Alya, an original character by Ian L. Powell (gypsy wench)
[personal profile] pameladlloyd
Okay, this is the last set for now. I figured if I was going to post from our trip to the UK, I should include some pics from Scotland, as well. For some reason, I seem to have far more photos from Scotland than from Wales, possibly because we were nearing the end of our trip and I was trying to capture as much as I absolutely could.

Highland Cattle on the Isle of Skye Highland Cattle on the Isle of Skye
The Isle of Skye was really amazing. We took a ferry over from mainland Scotland and drove around on these little backcountry roads. The shaggy "longhorns" were quite a contrast to the Texas longhorns we were more familiar with.
Ian in Eilean Donan Castle Ian in Eilean Donan Castle
This was taken in Eilean Donan castle. That's Ian again, sitting on the wall. Don't worry, he's being very firmly held by his father, who was hiding behind the wall. The woman on the stairs behind is an unknown tourist.
Ian in the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens Ian in the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens
The title says it all.
Ian in St. Andrews Church Ian in St. Andrews Church
Ian is sitting on a gravestone in the ruins of St. Andrews Church, in Scotland. We gave him an empty film canister to play with, because he kept trying to crawl away. The church is in ruins and much of the original stonework was carted away by locals to use for other building projects.
Lighthouse in Scotland Lighthouse in Scotland
Uncertain exactly where this was taken, but it was while we were traveling in Scotland. Possibly, this is the West Coast, near the Isle of Skye.
Ruins in Scotland Ruins in Scotland
Again, I'm not sure exactly where we were. As we traveled along the firths/lochs for much of our trip, the water is probably a loch, rather than ocean.
Seagull in the Scottish Highlands Seagull in the Scottish Highlands
My ex-husband, Richard W Powell, took the gull photos in 1983. We were driving southwest from Inverness along the firths & lochs, when near the center of Scotland we came across this gull, floating in the breeze, almost stationary.
Seagull Closeup Seagull Closeup
Here's a closeup of the seagull, as it was a bit hard to see in the original.
Baby Sheep Following Mama Baby Sheep Following Mama
Clearly, this is a fairly new baby, since it hasn't had a chance to dirty its coat, yet. :)
