pameladlloyd: Alya, an original character by Ian L. Powell (Metropolis)
[personal profile] pameladlloyd
I learned of this via [livejournal.com profile] nineweaving's post here and sought out more info.

On July 2, the German newspaper Die Ziet announced the discovery of the lost footage from Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Paula Felix-Didier, curator of the Museo del Cine in Buenos Aires, Argentina, found an uncut copy of the silent film in the archives of the museum (the Pablo Ducrós Hicken Film Museum, according to some sources), which had apparently obtained possession in 1992. The film is damaged and will be restored before it is made available to the public.

You can read more about this in an article on Ziet Online, if you can read German.
